The
Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO) is a coalition
of organizations and individuals committed to ending homelessness and
to promoting decent, safe, fair, affordable housing for all, with a focus
on assisting low-income people and those with special needs. COHHIO was
founded in October of 1994 through the merger of the Ohio Housing Coalition,
which was established in 1974, with the Ohio Coalition for the Homeless,
which was established in 1984.
We
achieve our mission by:
•
Identifying and advocating for immediate and long-term solutions
to homelessness, and for effective housing policy and production
at the state, local and national levels.
• Informing and raising the awareness of the public and
policy makers about homelessness and Ohio’s housing needs.
• Fostering communication and building local coalitions
and developing collaborative partnerships among homeless service
providers, housing providers, advocates, low-income and homeless
people, funders and government.
• Assuring the availability of funding, training, and technical
assistance to local organizations in the field.
• Working with other organizations for systematic change
to end poverty.
