Tenants Outreach 2005 - 2006 Accomplishments
2005
- Worked on solidifying project funding extension of current OTAG funds as well as exploring a new OTAG NOFA and funding through FHIP
- Provided assistance regarding the preservation of project-based Section 8 properties engaging non-traditional advocates
- Increased ability to mobilize tenants to become self-advocates creating regional tenant leadership groups and increasing the use of technology
- Continued general information and outreach to tenants maintain building database, create tenant/advocate newsletter and develop training materials
- Operated tenants hotline for fair housing rights
2006
- Started new Fair Housing Initiative Program (FHIP)
- Assisted tenants in making 504 requests for modifications/accommodations and, where necessary, assisting them in making formal complaints where requests were not fulfilled
- Planned and implemented Fair Housing seminars for tenants and stakeholders
- Held quarterly planning meetings for community stakeholders through the 504 Working Group
- Successfully worked with residents of Woodland Meadows to be relocated due to closure of the property
- Assisted tenants to request reasonable modifications or accommodations connected with federally assisted housing
